Supporting Every Learner at Sibbald Training

At Sibbald Training, we understand that everyone learns differently. For some candidates, returning to a classroom or completing an assessment can feel daunting, particularly when they have dyslexia, additional learning needs or challenges with reading and writing.

We want every learner to feel welcome, respected and confident asking for support. Our patient instructors, reception team and dedicated Neurodiversity Champion are here to listen and help you understand the options available for your course.

Depending on the course and its awarding body’s requirements, support may include:

• Quiet spaces to help with concentration.

• Patient guidance from instructors.

• Shaded paper and coloured overlays to make reading more comfortable.

• Support with note-taking or access to a scribe.

• Voiceover options for some tests.

• Verbal assessments instead of written tests, where permitted.

• Fidget pens to help with focus.

The support available varies between courses. Each awarding body sets specific rules for training and assessment, which means some adjustments are permitted on certain courses but cannot be offered on others. Our team will explain what is possible and work with you to provide as much support as those rules allow.

We strongly recommend telling us about any additional support needs or learning challenges when booking, or as early as possible before attending. This gives us time to discuss your needs, check the course requirements and arrange suitable support.

However, it is never too late to ask for help. If you feel unsure or need support on the day, you can speak discreetly to your course instructor or our reception team and explore what can be arranged within the course rules.

Asking for support is a positive step towards getting the most from your training. Whether you are learning a new skill, renewing a qualification or progressing in your career, we are here to help you build confidence.

To discuss your learning needs before your course, call 01501 750900 or email enquiries@sibbaldtraining.com.
