Course Aims
The aim of the Loading Shovel Course is to provide candidates with the basic knowledge and practical skills involved in operating a Loading Shovel to the NPORS (National Plant Operators Registration Scheme) standard.
Course Content
- An Introduction to the Construction Industry
- Current relevant regulations
- Introduction to machine
- Pre – shift inspections
- Controls and instruments
- Coolant, fuel and lubrication systems
- Excavate from a bank/stockpile
- Creating a stockpile with excavated material
- Use of the 4-in-1 bucket
- Reducing the level of excavations to line and level
- Loading vehicles
- NPORS assessment, which includes Theory & Practical elements.
Assessment
To achieve the Red NPORS Trained Operator Card candidates must pass the NPORS Theory Test and the Practical Test.
