Candidates must have passed the CSCS Health and Safety test (within the last 24 months) to gain the NPORS CSCS card and must hold a current 360 Excavator NPORS card.

Course Aims

It is envisaged that by the end of this course of training, the learner will be able to answer questions on and perform procedures relevant to an Excavator as a Crane.

Course Content

  • The industry, the dangers of working in the industry and the responsibilities of an operator.

  • Manufacturer's requirements as per technical data and relevant regulations and legislation.

  • Locate, identify and explain safe working loads, lifting capacity chart and different lifting configurations and working ranges.

  • Lifting procedures.

  • Centres of gravity and calculating an estimate weights of loads.

  • Overheard/proximity hazards.

  • Signal codes/hand signals, direction of movement, safe working and safe landing, placement zone with the Slinger/Signaller.

  • Safe condition for attachments to be fitted

  • Load integrity and security

  • Moving a load to a designated position in a safe and controlled manner, ensuring minimum uncontrolled movement.

  • Environmental considerations.

  • All out-of-service and securing procedures.


Assessment
To achieve the Red NPORS Trained Operator Card candidates must pass the NPORS Theory Test and the Practical Test.
