Course Aims
The scheme is designed to ensure individuals gain a rounded appropriate level of knowledge, understanding health, safety and environmental law and their associated responsibilities.
The course will equip delegates with the knowledge and skills to ensure that safety issues are managed effectively, protecting the workforce, other people and the general environment and ensuring that legal compliance is achieved.
Who Attends
SHEA Waste and Resource Management scheme is designed for individuals who require access to operational sites within the Waste and Waste Management industry, both permanent and temporary, at all levels including operatives, supervisors and management.
Course Content
The content consists of 7 mandatory modules specific to the Waste industry, with a further 1 optional module specific to waste collection vehicle drivers and operatives.
Module 1: Introduction to the waste sector (Waste Specific)
Module 2: Legislation, regulation and company procedures (Waste Specific)
Module 3: Health and safety in the workplace (Waste Specific)
Module 4: What happens if things go wrong? (Waste Specific)
Module 5: Occupational hazards and consequences (Waste Specific)
Module 6: Onsite risks and precautions (Waste Specific)
Module 7: The environment (Waste Specific)
Module 8: Waste collection: drivers and operatives (Waste Specific -Vehicle drivers and operatives)
Optional module 8: This module is not a requirement for registration on SHEA Waste and Resource Management. Successful completion of this module results in an additional EUSR registration for ‘Waste collection: drivers and operatives’.

Maximum attendees: 12 candidates
Qualifications Obtained
Issue of the related EUSR Waste and Resource Management Passport (valid 3 years) will be awarded to those persons who successfully complete the. EUSR Waste Passport is generally accepted as a minimum site entry requirement.

The minimum entry requirement is a good understanding of spoken and written English
Additional Information
SHEA SWITCH in Scotland
In Scotland, the SHEA Waste and Resource Management scheme is delivered in conjunction with the SWITCH (Scottish Waste Industry Training, Competence, Health & Safety) Forum of which Zero Waste Scotland is a member. Additionally, the SHEA modules map across to and support the widely used SWITCH Competence Framework. Individuals trained and assessed in Scotland will be issued with an EUSR card that also features the SWITCH logo.
