Course Aims
To provide the candidates with the knowledge and experience to follow safety procedures and precautions before and during excavation work.
Course Content
- Interpretation of utility maps
- Symbols used by utility companies on maps
- Transferring of information
- Review of HSG 47 – Avoiding Danger From Underground Services
- Common types of underground apparatus
- Support of apparatus in open excavations
- Use of cable and pipe locaters
Assessment
On successful completion of the course candidates will be issued with a Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA) Certificate - Unit 1 Location and Avoidance of Underground Apparatus.
