CPC CRS7838 - Tachograph and Vehicle Checks

Course Aims

The intention of this course is to ensure each candidate is aware of and sufficiently knowledgeable in the use and operations of both digital and analogue tachographs. It provides a rounded instruction on vehicle checks and safety inspections. Every driver of a Large Goods Vehicle, who is driving for financial gain (a job!) – must, by law, train for 35 hours (that’s 5 days), every 5 years. This course is designed to provide 7 hours of this training towards the 35 hours total required.

Who Attends

Candidates must hold a current valid Professional Driving Licence

Course Content

Introduction to tachographs and the legislation
Analogue tachographs
Understanding the various traces - comparing them to pictographs
Important of recording all working time
Introduction and overview of the Digital Tachograph
Drivers, company, enforcement and workshop cards - what they all do, their limits, purpose and abilities
The "1 minute rule"
Introduction to properly conducted daily vehicle checks
Defect reporting

Knowledge

Candidates will increase their knowledge base on The use of Tachographs and Vehicle Checks and Inspection techniques.

Methods

Teaching Methods
A high proportion of discussions, teaching and sharing best practice, group exercises and case studies will be supplemented with classroom based tutorials presentations and videos.

Assessment Methods
Delegates will be continuously assessed during the course. There is no final examination.

Qualifications Obtained

Seven (7) hours added to the candidates Professional Driver record.

Entry Requirements

Please note that training hours can not be repeated within the 5 year period and each session booked must not be a unit already held on your licence
