Course Content

The IOSH Managing Safely course content includes:
Law and Regulations
An overview of the key pieces of legislation and regulations that apply to the workplace
Risk Management
Understanding, assessing and controlling risk to ’reasonably practicable’ levels
Accidents at Work
Investigating accidents in the workplace to establish immediate and root causes
Health & Safety Performance Indicators
Analysing reactive and proactive health and safety performance indicators
Environmental & Pollution Management
Appreciate the fundamental requirements of effective environmental waste and pollution management

Knowledge

This IOSH Managing Safely course will provide delegates in a managerial or supervisory position with knowledge on the practical actions they need to take to handle health and safety in their areas of responsibility..

Methods

Teaching Methods
The IOSH Managing Safely course is highly interactive with a high proportion of discussions, best practice sharing, syndicate exercises and case studies, supplemented with classroom based tutorial and presentations.

Assessment Methods
Delegates will be continuously assessed during the IOSH Managing Safely course.
The process following course completion is as follows;
On the final day delegates are given an assessment paper which they are required to take away with them, complete and return to the trainer within 2 weeks. The trainer will only start marking the paperwork once:
·         All delegates have completed and returned the assessments (or)
·         When the two-week deadline has elapsed
·         Once all assessments are complete the trainer will mark the papers and forward on to IOSH.
·         IOSH will independently mark the assessments within a two-week window.
·         IOSH will notify of any fails and post pass certificate to Sibbald Ltd.
·         Sibbald will forward the results and certificates to the client.

Qualifications Obtained

Issue of the related IOSH Managing Safely certificate (valid 3 years) will be awarded to those persons who successfully complete the assignment.

Entry Requirements

Pre-Requisites:  The minimum entry requirement is a good understanding of spoken and written English

Bespoke Course
For a IOSH Managing Safely course held at your own location, please ensure that the classroom you make available has a 240v power supply and is a suitable size for the number of delegates attending. Please ensure that the practical area has been risk assessed, is free from harm and is suitable for training.
