The one-day Acheiving Behavioural Change course aims to highlight the importance of attitudes, behaviour, communication and worker engagement, at all levels, delegates will understand improving in engagement can help minimise risks and prevent site incidents and accidents.

Who Attends

The ABC course is for any delegates working on or visiting a construction site, including contractor management, supervisors, all construction trades (bricklayers, electricians, plasterers) and non-construction trades (labourers and
site drivers).

Course Content

The ABC course content includes:

Basic legal duties for employers and employees
Identify hazards and understand need for risk assessment
Causes of accidents and the costs associated with poor safety performance
The benefits of good safety performance
The STAARR and TASK card systems

 

 

 

 

Knowledge

By the end of the ABC course of training delegates will be aware off the importance of attitudes, behaviour, communication and worker engagement, at all levels, delegates will understand how improving in engagement can help minimise risks and prevent site incidents and accidents.

Methods

Teaching Methods
The ABC course is highly interactive with a high proportion of discussions, best practice sharing, syndicate exercises and case studies will be supplemented with classroom based tutorial.

Assessment Methods
Delegates will be continuously assessed during the ABC course in preparation for the final multiple choice examination and will need to achieve 72% in the final exam, in order to successfully complete the ABC course.

Qualifications Obtained

Issue of the related ABC construction Skills Certificate (valid 5 years) will be awarded to those persons who successfully complete the ABC course.

Pre-Requisites: The minimum entry requirement is a good understanding of spoken and written English

Additional Information

For a ABC course held at your own location, please ensure that the classroom you make available has a 240v power supply and is a suitable size for the number of delegates attending. Please ensure that the practical area has been risk assessed, is free from harm and is suitable for training.
