Course Aims

The intention of this course is to ensure each candidate is aware of and sufficiently knowledgeable in the use and application of accident procedures and first aid provisions. Every driver of a Large Goods Vehicle, who is driving for financial gain (a job!) – must, by law, train for 35 hours (that’s 5 days), every 5 years. This course is designed to provide 7 hours of this training towards the 35 hours total required.

Who Attends

Candidates must hold a current valid Professional Driving Licence.

Course Content

The responsibilities of a driver in the event of an accident
Risk assessment
Transport law
ADR (transport of hazardous goods by road)
Basic awareness of first aid
The causes of vehicle fires and appropriate action to be taken
Insurance implications of road accidents

 

Knowledge

Candidates will increase their knowledge base on the use and application of accident procedures and first aid provisions.

Methods

Teaching Methods
A high proportion of discussions, teaching and sharing best practice, group exercises and case studies will be supplemented with classroom based tutorials presentations and videos.

Assessment Methods
Delegates will be continuously assessed during the course. There is no final examination.

Qualifications Obtained

Seven (7) hours added to the candidates Professional Driver record.

Entry Requirements

Please note that training hours can not be repeated within the 5 year period and each session booked must not be a unit already held on your licence
