The CPCS (Construction Plant Competence Scheme) the largest and most highly recognised card scheme for the plant industry, provides a single skills card for the plant sector of the Construction Industry. It was launched in 2003, since then over 280,000 cards have been issued across 60 categories of plant and machinery.
The revised Scheme (of 2008) is now supported by a new core element, the CPCS Technical Test, which will be delivered by CPCS Testers working through CPCS Test Centers, like our fantastic, brand new, purpose build centre at Sibbald Park, Blackridge, West Lothian. The Technical Test will ensure independent assessment of an individual's operating ability and their underpinning knowledge.
At Sibbald we can offer full Foundation Training Courses with CPCS Technical Tests at the end for novice candidates, with no previous experience, who are possibly looking for a change of career or just to develop themselves further.
If the course you require is not here please contact us by telephone: 01501 750900 or email.
Experienced Operators
On the other hand if you are an experienced operator but don't hold any CPCS certification for the machine there is the new CPCS Technical Test. This consists of a Theory and Practical test on the machine. The Theory Test lasts 1 hour and is usually between 60 and 70 questions all done one to one with one of our CPCS tester's. The Practical test durations vary between categories and again will be done one to one with one of our CPCS tester's. Please contact us on 01501 750900 for more info on CPCS Technical Tests.
Candidates choosing to go through the CPCS Route must have an up to date CSCS Health, Safety & Enviroment Test (i.e. this must have been completed in the last 2 years) before Technical Testing can take place. This can also be done at Sibbald, we have various dates available each month. Contact us for dates 01501 750900.
CPCS rules state that CPCS Technical Tests must take place at a Test Centre, like our facility at Blackridge, West Lothian.
However there are occasions when a category would become an off-centre category, meaning CPCS Technical Testing can take place on your site.
Examples of Off-Centre categories are Crawler Tractor/Dozer, Crushers, Screeners and Rigid Dump Trucks.
