Agricultural Tractor

The Aim of the Agricultural Tractor Course is to:

Provide the candidate with the basic knowledge and practical skills involved in operating an Agricultural Tractor.

Course Duration:

4 Days, this depends on the number of candidates and the ratio of candidates / machines per Instructor. Foundation course includes 1 Day Module 2 Health & Safety Course.

The Objectives of the Course are to enable delegates to:

  • Be able to operate the machine safely and correctly in accordance with manufacturers' instructions and accepted good practice.
  • Carry out a pre-shift inspection.
  • Be able to control the tractor in forward and reverse directions.
  • Be able attach and detach implements such as the Power Take Off.

Have an understanding of responsibilities under Health and Safety at Work Order & other current relevant legislation.

Agricultural Tractor Course Summary

Candidates will participate in theory lessons and practical demonstrations / exercises, all of which are highlighted by the use of OHP & Videos covering;

  • An Introduction to the Construction Industry
  • Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations
  • Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations
  • Health and Safety at Work Order
  • Other current relevant regulations
  • Introduction to machine
  • Pre - shift inspections
  • Controls and instruments
  • Coolant, fuel and lubrication systems
  • Use of the 3 Point Linkage
  • Use of the Power Take Off
  • Reversing the tractor with a trailer
  • Loading and Un-loading
  • The use of mounted implements

Certification

Scottish Progression Award or Intermediate Certificate (ICT600) for Specialised Plant Machinery Operations, both of which lead to the issue of (CSR) Red Trained Operators Card.

Eligible companies are able to claim grants for this training, which will pay for a substantial amount if not all of the training costs, as this course is CITB approved for grant purposes.
