The Aim of the RTITB Forklift Truck Instructors Course is to:

Provide effective instruction on the following:

• Relevant instructional skills, including classroom techniques;
• Techniques for structuring training material into a logical sequence;
• An objective and critical approach towards the effectiveness of the instruction presented;
• Appropriate methods of assessment on the progress of trainees and the testing of basic skills and knowledge they acquire.

Course Duration

10 days

Course Objectives:

On completion of training, course members should be able to demonstrate their ability to plan, prepare and present practical and theoretical instruction to an adequate standard.  In addition, they should be able to construct, conduct and mark objectively a practical test or tests of trainees' operating ability and issue appropriate documentation.

Who Should Attend The Course?

Individuals who wish to have a nationally recognised Instructor Qualification for Industrial Lift Trucks.  Candidates must be able to provide evidence of their training and post-training experience on the type of truck used.

Candidates will participate in theory lessons and practical demonstrations / exercises, all of which are highlighted by the use of OHP & Videos covering

• Principals of instruction
• Simple task analysis
• Preparing a job break-down sheet
• Planning, preparing and presenting a practical demonstration
• Planning, preparing and presenting a practical lesson
• Planning, preparing and presenting a classroom lesson
• Use of question and answer techniques
• Developing training courses suitable for new trainees or experienced operators
• Guidance in specific job and familiarisation training
• Constructing, conducting and marking practical and theoretical tests of trainees' operating ability
• Certification of operators after basic training
• Employers' authorisation to operate

Certification

Candidates are certificated by the RTITB and are registered on the RTITB National Database of Approved Instructors.
