Loader Compressor Training

The Aim of the Loader Compressor Course is to:

Provide the candidate with the basic knowledge and practical skills involved in operating the Loader Compressor.

Course Duration

4 days, this depends on the number of candidates and the ratio of candidates / machines per Instructor.  Foundation course includes 1 Day Module 2 Health & Safety Course.

The Objectives of the Course are to enable delegates to:

  • Be able to operate the machine safely and correctly in accordance with manufacturers' instructions and accepted good practice.
  • Carry out a pre-shift inspection.
  • Be able to operate safely under varying site conditions.
  • Be able to carry out minor adjustments and routine services.
  • Have an understanding of responsibilities under Health and Safety at Work Act 1974  & other current relevant legislation.

All personnel required to operate a Loader Compressor.

Loader Compressor Course Summary

Candidates will participate in theory lessons and practical demonstrations / exercises, all of which are highlighted by the use of OHP & Videos covering;

  • An Introduction to the Construction Industry
  • Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations
  • Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations
  • Health and Safety at Work Act 1974
  • Other current relevant regulations
  • Introduction to machine
  • Pre - shift inspections
  • Controls and instruments
  • Coolant, fuel and lubrication systems
  • Loading and levelling techniques
  • Loading vehicles from a stockpile
  • Starting and stopping procedures for the compressor, air hoses and tools
  • Breaking out materials with compressed air tools

Certification

Scottish Progression Award or Intermediate Certificate (ICT600) for Specialised Plant Machinery Operations, both of which lead to the issue of (CPCS) Red Trained Operators Card.

Eligible companies are able to claim grants for this training, which will pay for a substantial amount if not all of the training costs, as this course is CITB approved for grant purposes.
